 ________________

We started preparing for this contest in early March, when the
article about the We originally wanted to setup about 3 extra
antennas @ N9YXA, but laziness got the best of us. So, the nite
before the 'test, we decided to attempt at puttin g up a 20M Extended
double Zepp, cut for CW. But again, laziness got the best of Well,
enough on my laziness... now to the FUN stuff! We started the contest
about 1205UT, 5 minutes late, and started an intensive search and
pounce operation. We then figured that our signals were strong
enough, and we called CQ. CQ'ing seemed to be very productive this
year, as we made about 30+ Q's that way. (Last year's record was
21-Q's for CQ'ing) After running until 12PM, we decided to take a
brief nap, so that we could be "livened" up for the 40 opening. But,
once I emerged from the nap, Europe was
booming contacts on 20/40. But, this contest did not occur with the
strange occurences! During my nap, I went to sleep with my glasses on,
and when I woke up, they were neatly tucked next to my pillow! No one
had been in the contest shack but me! Wonder if this paves the way for
making Q's while sleep!

10-Didn't bother
15-Computer monitor wiped out 98% of the band!
20-Excellent, plentiful CW/SSB contacts, lotsa Euro, JA, VK, and even
some Asians occasionally.. Not bad for the "propagationally
challenged" area of the U.S! 40-Award winning! whole mess of people to
work! The highlight of the night was when I worked a VK on my longwire
(at my station, i'm lucky to get to American Samoa on the longwire).
This is where alot of my CQ's were answered. I also met some young
contest friends on the band. 80-Didn't dare, I find sheilding problems
in EVERYTHING in the house on this band! 160-You're Kidding!.. It's
almost just like turning every remote-controlled (X-10) system on and
off!

Well, all and all, it was a very productive and fun contest, beating
last year's Q count by 10. Look forward to improving next year, and
getting above 500....

I have observed all competition rules as well as all regulations
established for amateur radio in my country. My report is correct
and true to the best of my knowledge. I agree to be bound by the
 decisions of the Awards Committee.
