Got back from my trip just a few hours before the contest and lowered the
80 Meter G5RV that performed so poorly in the CW Sprint to inspect the
feedline. Sure enough, one side was completely severed. After repairing
it the antenna loaded a lot better but it still did not seem to work
right. I had real trouble working anyone beyond W4 and W9 on 80 and got
beat out a lot. Maybe it needs more work.

Conditions on 20 did not favor this part of the country. Skip was too
long to work the Midwest, a sure sign of low scores from the East. The
one exception was K9NW, who was booming in here much of the time. I
looked on 40 at the beginning of the contest but could only find guys
working the WAE test. Skip was too long to work the close-in stuff by the
time people began showing up on 40 at 0115. We in the East would surely
benefit if we would start out the Sprints on 40.

I worked 4U1WB, who said he was in Washington D.C. I assume that he
counts as a NA country like 4U1U. Anybody know what 4U1W is?
