N4OGW 1997 Stew Perry 160 contest (Kentucky EM78)

Single op, High Power

309 q's, 1714 points, 11 hours

Omni 6+SB-1000 (500w)
inverted L (75' vertical) with 50 1/8 wave radials on ground
900' beverage for europe

Did a field-day style operation from a farm in central KY. Inverted L
was supported from a tree. The beverage worked great, plus there was
very little noise at this rural qth (except before I turned off an
electric fence!) Put up the beverage in a field (woods) containing
about 50 cows...they were very curious! One went up and licked the
termination resistor (temporarily crimped between insulator and ground
rod) as I was finishing...it still seemed to work ok. Worked about 70
eu stations, longest DX was 4X. Didn't manage to stay up for the
morning dx.
