The usual problem again this year - disturbed conditions and lots of absorption
really slowed things down. We ran a 5 station m/m with all Yaesu FT1000d/mp's
(thanks to VE6WQ,VE6MK, and VE6FR) and all networked with rig interface using
Trlog, which worked very well, as usual. Band by band sob story follows....

160... lucky to work Hawaii on this band....heard lots of Carribean but we
couldn't be heard.

80...better equipped than ever before with a 4 ele full size yagi at 160', I
was really hoping to do well on 80m. Not to be - again we could hear very well
- the yagi is much quieter than any of the bobtails and hears better than any
of the beverages; but the DX just couldn't hear us. The yagi just went up in
the week before the test and the rotor system wasn't fully wired yet - in fact,
VE6MAA and VE6LDX spent much of Saturday afternoon putting in a new motor at
160 feet. After that, we could at least swing the beam around, altho it meant
flashlights and clip leads at the base of the tower to do it. Fortunately we
had great weather so it wasn't too much of a hardship. The beam spent the
first night aimed into Europe - heard many of the Eu m/m 's but couldn't work
any of them. Once the motor was wired Saturday, we put it into the Carribean
till 0900 or so, then swung it into Asia. Didn't really help because
conditions were even worse than the first night. It was thanks to much help
from guys
like VE6LDX, VE6MK, VE6MAA, VE6DGG and others, that we even got the beam up in
time for the test, so we're looking forward to CQWW CW and hoping to give it a
real test there.

40...same story here, tough to get into Europe and the JA path was also heavily
absorbed.

20...Tough to keep rate going here as most of the single ops were enjoying 10
and 15m. Not much from any of the northern European countries but at least most
were worked for the mult. Best hour here was the last hour (115) with VE6LDX

15....Another project this summer was the 6/6/6/6 stack on 15m and this was its
first workout. The lower 3 antennas are sidemounted (300 deg rotation) and it
all worked very well. A nice 258 first hour, thanks to VE6WQ, plus 6 straight
hours well over 100 made up ground, but again, northern Europe was scarce.

10...In reasonably good shape to 0200 both nights and opened at 1400 both
mornings, esp good for a short time the second morning into Spain, Portugal etc
and then shifting into Africa, helping us with some much needed multipliers.
Much better quantity wise to the USA, the first day with 5 good hours starting
at 1500: 106/205/181/193/101.
