Comments:
What a difference High Power makes! Being able
to hold a freq. for more than 10 minutes (a slight exaggeration)
makes SS a bit more enjoyable.
It was interesting experiencing mother nature's work when she pulled
the plug on propagation Sunday afternoon. Fortunately, the down
time was short and we didn't have a repeat of CW weekend.
Highlights:
1) Working VE3DUV who told me I was not only his first
contest QSO but his first HF QSO!! After visiting with him for
a bit I got his address and have already put a card in the mail.
2) Having VE8EV call me for the sweep Sunday Morning. (Never heard
VY1A)
3) A personal SS best 156 hour (hour #2)
4) Working a local friend, W5JE, who was on vacation, mobile in AZ.
5) Hearing many new Arkansas stations contesting. Although we are
still a GREAT distance from the states that have enviable "coordinated"
contesting efforts (Like TN) we are making progress.
Thanks to Frank & Linda, N5ZS & WD5IUS, for allowing me to use their
station. The 4-el 20 meter beam @ 90' works great and a new 80 meter
wire antenna (curtain) is a great addition.
Also, congratulations to Steve, K5OY, operating from Superstation
AB5SE,
(Hi Hi) for totally annihilating the previous best low power score from
said superstation...with only 21 1/2 operating hours (he should have
worked the last 2 1/2 and made his date wait).
As always, thanks much to everyone for the QSO's.
73, Jerry, AB5SE
