Operator List: WA1S, KQ1F, K1XM

Equipment Description:

Run Station: TS-572S, HL1K/A
Mult Station: IC-735, 30L-1

10/15/20: Homebrew vertical with parasitic reflector aimed northeast
10/15/20: Homebrew vertical with parasitic reflector aimed northwest
40/80: Two Butternut HF2-V, switchable directions
40/160: Trapped inverted-L

We had to carry all our stuff. The antennas fit in a single golf club
carrying case.

High Points:

The Sandy Beach Hotel lived up to it's name. The ocean was less than
a hundred feet from our rooms and we had a clear shot over water to
the Europe, Japan, and the US.

The antenna system went up easily and seemed to work well, except on
160 where we didn't have much vertical height.

Conditions were great!

We had very little interference between the two stations despite the
antennas being close and the saltwater environment.

We could run both stations and the air conditioner.

The scuba diving was wonderful. Expect another QSL card with a fish.

The day after the contest the lunar high tide washed out our radials
and one of the antenas. It would have taken more of them except that
they were already packed.

Low Points:

Our country multiplier. There just aren't a lot of active countries
near Kosrae. Actually, what's nearby is mostly the Pacific Ocean.
Europe is polar and far away. The Caribbean is not polar but it is
on the other side of the US.

The continent breakdown shows the problem:

                160 80 40 20 15 10 ALL percent

North America 0 84 338 426 589 843 2280 44.0
South America 0 1 5 25 34 9 74 1.4
Europe 0 52 260 335 178 29 854 16.5
Asia 2 122 165 640 615 295 1839 35.5
Africa 0 1 2 15 8 2 28 0.5
Oceania 2 12 16 32 27 18 107 2.1

Ignoring 160, 6Y2A worked 17 more zones than V63X, a total of 11%, and
295 more countries, or 79%. We must have been in a black hole or
something.

We only had 120 volts available. We ran about 400 watts output from
both stations except on 160 where we only ran 100 watts.

Continental Air Micronesia delivered all our bags two days late. And
delayed our flight out of Kosrae 24 hours. And broke the latch off
one bag and the handle off another. And was generally a pain in the
neck.

The multiplier station power supply died when we first plugged it in.
V63AO arranged for us to borrow one for the contest.

No, we are not VB3X and Canada is not in zone 27.

Overall we had a blast. The contest went much too quickly and we
wanted another 48 hours!
