Totals 3950 3829 19622 120 Used mainly FT-1000's
and one ICOM 756 on 20m
Final Score = 2,354,640 points.
Very poor conditions on 160 and 80, and the first 12 hours was pretty
tough going. But finally the high bands opened and the rate climbed into
the 300 an hour range and pretty well stayed there till the end. We had
some ambitious totals in mind, including our record, but without the low
bands, it just wasn't going to happen.
We ran an 8 station multi, incluing 6 and 2m, so basically had 3 or 4
stations on SSB and 2 or 3 on CW as needed. Since I always get questioned
- the 2 yl voices you heard this weekend were from either Rita VE6RIT or
Janet VE6DYB. Although Murphy wasn't here in full force, we had several
last second crisis but no real failures. I *think* the balun on the 80m
yagi yagi let go (but the band was virtually closed down by then anyway),
but haven't checked that yet - came down with the flu after the contest
(if it has to happen, that's the best time) so I've been laying low.
Thanks to all who called in and especially to those that helped by moving
to other bands. Most of the skeds didn't work out but we sure appreciate
the effort!
Best in 1999.
