Another learning experience.
Replaced the 20M trap so 20M and 40M were usable.
Had my first Q every on 40 from this QTH. I called several others, but
during the contest no else heard me.
Lost one evening to a social event for my wife's work that we couldn't
get out of.
Decided to try calling CQ. I learned that even a vertical can call
CQ. I wasn't always very successful, but I had one good run on 15M,
well, good for me anyway. Thanks to KF3BE for his ARRL DX post about
calling CQ. I'm a believer now too.
Used the amp most of the contest for the first time. The neighbors
discovered RFI, but it was minor and, if you can be believe it, they
fixed it themselves. Whew!
It rained Saturday which shifted the usable part of the 20M band on the
vertical down about 100 kHZ, which wiped out a portion of 20M for the
amp for the rest of the contest. I sure am looking forward to
getting the beam up.
