I started out thinking I'd S&P a bit and give out a few multipliers. That
lasted
about 10 minutes until I found a run frequency. I spent the first 3 hours on
10m making 305 contacts then went 15m and 20m. I still wasn't really serious
at
this point, I just kept evolving my goal. I took some time off to have dinner
and bath the kids. I went back on 80m. It was pretty slow, but I managed to
find
BC. At this point, a sweep looked possible, all I needed was NL andNWT/YK. I
worked everything that could hear me on 80m (big total 25 q's) and even made 3
contacts on 40m. I packed up for the night and figured I might be able to find
the last 2 sections on Sunday.I started again around 1900utc and plugged away
until VO1MP called me for NL section. I must have thanked him 20 times and
told
him, I just needed NWT/YK for the sweep. He suggested I go up the band a bit
and
look around. Sure enough, just up the band was VY1MB, but I could barely hear
him, we were too close! I started swinging the beam around until I could hear
well enough to try to work him (ended up pointing to Hawaii). I got him first
call. CLEAN SWEEP!!!The most amazing thing is that until that point I had not
looked for the different mults, I just sat and ran stations, eventually they
all came to me except for the last one! I'll be back next year. I'll probably
have to send the wife and kids away for the weekend if I want to play for 24
hours. All in all a very satisfying effort for my first time.
