My first "serious" RTTY contest ever. Wow, lots more fun than I ever expected.
Many of the skills from CW/SSB contesting are applicable, but it is also
completely different. Kind of like grabbing callsigns from a Boggle game.
Used WriteLog and it really has the sound card demodulating and two radio
functionality working perfectly. I could print anything I could hear.

I was not as mentally tired after the contest. RTTY doesn't require the brain
to do the hard work of copying, just the business of figuring out. And the
software color codes everything so it is a more visual experience. Still, got
confused a few times when trying to watch output from two screens at once.

Activity seemed to be very good. Bands were good enough - worked JA on 10-20.
80m was very quiet so it was possible to work everyone without too much
trouble. The second radio was responsible for much of the score. There is a
lot of dead time in RTTY contests, so the second rig keeps the mind active.

My plan was to treat the contest as a combination of SS and a DX contest.
Focused on working rate and USA on Saturday, then ran Europe all day on Sunday.

Worked all states, 9 provinces and 67 countries. Heard a 9K2 work N2WK on 10m,
heard A52YL work some Europeans on 20, and heard YV5AAX all over the place but
he never called me.

I listened to PSK several times on Sunday on 10 and 15. Never heard anyone
calling CQ contest. Tried calling CQ for a few minutes on 15, got one answer
that I just couldn't copy (even though the signal was loud) so I gave up. The
rate was too high on RTTY anyway.

This is a new record score for single-op high power.
