First off, special thanks to Craig W1JCC and Paul K1XM for coming over to
operate on Friday night. We were a bit short on ops, especially at the start.
Dave KM3T had business to finish in Silicon Valley and could not return to
Boston until Saturday morning. He ended up joining the crew at noon on
Saturday.
Conditions in general were way down from ARRL SSB 2000, but we had fun anyway!
Here are some highlights from the weekend...
* Napping on the futon to the music of N2AA rocking in the 20m operating
chair. (de K1GQ)
* 1408Z - Got called from M5TNT and right after that he
worked IZ5BAM! A true "laughing my butt off" moment. (de KC1XX)
* XX really pleased that he and K1GQ got the 10 meter JA stacks
fixed on Sunday morning. It helped produce another 8 Qs. :-)

* W1JCC walks in at 2345Z carrying his headset -- after a 30 minute
panic searching for a way to get six stations on phone with five
working headsets. (de K1GQ) KM3T showed up with his Heil on Saturday.
* Working a CO station on 15m in Spanish and asking what his power
level is. So he comes back and says "one moment, please." Then he
proceeds to say "hoooooooooola, hooooooooola" while watching his
power output. Then he gave me his exact power output (59 or 60
watts, can't remember now). I almost lost it with laughter! (de KM3T)
* Getting paged by W4AN late Friday night while at SFO airport. He
paged me to tell me that he was listening to W1FV calling CQ on 75m
at KC1XX and getting virtually no answers. Really made me look forward
to getting home! (de KM3T)
* Very tough lowband conditions, especially 80 and 160. It was a complete
turnaround from the great conditions on the CW weekend. Most signals were
very weak and QRN was high. A lot of the QSOs were a real struggle, picking
out callsigns one letter at a time between breaks in the static crashes.
Thanks to the many stations who stayed with me during all the requests for
repeats. However, I have to commend a number of legitimate QRP stations
(including a one-watter Sunday night) who made it into the log on 80
in such bad conditions. (de W1FV, 75m op)
* "Iron man" award has to go to K1GQ who stayed up all night Friday and
Saturday to make--what??--12 QSOs on 160 after Craig (W1JCC) left.
