Comments:
58 minutes into the contest the 20m computer went berserk and jumped way ahead
in numbers. Shortly thereafter all the other bands suffered the same fate.
Since we didn't know what numbers to send, we shut everything down until we got
things back up at 0131Z. Our highest rates come at the start of the contest,
so it was a very bad time to suffer a major glitch - we lost a lot of QSOs.
One clue to the cause of the problem is that some of the 20m QSOs got computer
dated Feb 6 2006!
After that things ran pretty well except for the lack of propagation. The end
of the first whole night found us with 1 QSO on 160 and 9 QSOs on 80, some of
them local KL7's. The second night was better, but conditions were not nearly
as good as last year.
One thing we did different this year was to give the less experienced guys a
lot of time running and handling pileups. They responded pretty well and had a
great time.
Interesting competition with KL7RA M/M this year. Seems like they were running
on 20 and 10 everytime we found those bands flat. On the other hand, 15 was
wide open most of the second day - turn everything north and crank out those
Europeans all night and well into the morning. That may have made all the
difference.
