Comments:
The big project this year was installing a 80M 4SQ around my 15/20M tower.
This meant getting heavy equipment back in the woods to pull out tree stumps
and level the area so the 65,000 feet of radials could be laid. Since my
cables all run on the ground, this meant rolling everything up at the base of
each tower. It was a big project, and the 4SQ seems to work FB, but getting
things wired back up proved to be a bigger task than I had imagined. It seems
as though I'd taken a lightning hit at some point just before the start of the
80M 4SQ project, and I was just finding out the extent of the damage. It wiped
out all the ring rotators, some T2X's, as well as all the WX0B stack switching.
And I thought a month ago my biggest problem was going to be how to adjust my
schedule to take our kids out trick-or-treating Sunday afternoon!
Atleast all the antennas were fixed on Europe, and I did manage to get the top
10M antenna to rotate just before the start of the contest, and hard wire in a
single 15M Yagi late Sunday morning.
After getting back with the kids from TT'ing, I fired back up on 15M and had my
best ever, last hour of the contest rate of 101.
Can't remember the last time I spent so little time in this contest. Hoping to
pull enough stuff together to be competitive for CQWW CW.
