Comments:

The 10 meter band was almost too hot on Saturday. It was amazing to find
stations running pileups at 29.3 MHz. QRM was so bad that it was never possible
to get rates much over 150 for any period of time since I had to ask for so
many repeats to get calls through the splatter. The S-meter seldom dropped
below 20 over at any time.
The band didn't even open for us here in the Southwest until around 1400Z and
then you could only hear Europe by heading the beam between 120 and 150
degrees. Very few stations even moved the S-meter. Around 1740Z the absorption
finally dropped enough that Europe could be worked on the short path but, by
then only the strongest stations could be heard and most of them had been
worked Saturday. South America was the mainstay of Sunday's contacts with peak
rates of 15 per hour. All-in-all a really disappointing weekend.
