Got very QRL with work around www.Verkhovyna.com resort, no time to prepare for
contest. Last minute decided to set up antennas in the backyard of our home,
the same stuff that was used in portable operation at Cape Hatteras, NC last
year. 4 square and 3 el. dual polarization quad on the porch, 16 ft high. With
about the same effort and condx being a bit more favorable to scores this year,
the result was 600k vs. 770k last year, it should have been more like around
850k. Main difference? 4 square was close to quad at ocean front, here at
inland QTH it sucked royally, (about 3 S-units down) it was hardly used, just
for occasional off beam multiplier. Noticeable difference on DX. At ocean QTH I
could hear new DX CQing without callers and getting it on first call, here I
can hear others calling stuff I could not hear, never mind getting it after
long wait. The result? I love ocean! Had fun anyway.
