Comments:
Our usual CW Ops were away so I decided to have a go in the SOAB category this
year. Not as easy as multi-op HI!
Started the contest late after spending most of Saturday afternoon resurrecting
the main USA SP Vee beam which had come down in recent high winds. Also had
another hour out on Sunday morning to fix a probem with the PA stage.
Low bands (esp 40m) were better than the PH contest but not as good as previous
years. High bands were OK but not as good as in the PH contest.
Equipment: FT1000MP + AL811X + CT 9.66 logging
Antennas: Vee beams (300m legs) for USA SP, USA LP, Europe LP, Europe SP and
Australia. Rhombic for Europe switchable between SP & LP. 200m longwire (max
height 40m AGL) for 160m.
Thanks to
1. The Contest Committee for the fun contest
2. EVERYONE for all the QSOs.
3. Ken K1EA for modifying CT to include the Oceania contest.
4. The Wellington Amateur Radio club for the awesome ZL6QH facilities
