Comments:
Thanks a million to Bill K4XS for allowing us to tear his SO2R station apart
to turn it into a M/S station. We had 2 stations manned for the full 48 hours;
N6MJ and I each did about 46 hours with K4XS filling in on the multiplier
station for a couple hours to let us get a little rest. A third station to sit
K4XS at would have really helped; not having the capability to put a 2nd
station on the run band cost us probably 30 multipliers, the zone sweep on 10,
and who knows how many QSOs. You can only do so much with the sub VFO and
there were mults we heard with pileups large enough that would have made
leaving the run frequency to call them counter-productive.
Conditions on the first day sucked, but it appears that they sucked less for
us than everyone else. Sunday was great and made Dan's trip worthwhile. I had
my best ever JA run from the east coast on 15m saturday night (15m) and MJ had
a blast running EU sunday morning on 10.
This contest was kind of a WRTC warmup for Dan and I, and I think we did
pretty well as a team considering it's the first time we've operated together.
