Comments:

This was FUN, even if it was a little 'difficult' at times. My apologies to
8P9Z who struggled for some time to pull my QRP signal through on 80M. G4BUO
was the only EU worked on 80M. Most of the time I was able to work most of the
stations I heard on 40 through 10. Missed the usual former USSR multipliers
on 40M such as RU1A, RW2F, UT, and LY due to polar path absorption.

It became obvious pretty quickly if I was not being heard and then I would just
move on. AH2R and XT2DX were impossible the first night but worked first call
the second day. I was amazed by how well I could crack the medium sized
pileups on some of the more rare DX such as A45XR, HZ1AB, JY9NX, VQ9X, ZD8Z,
5X1Z. TIMING is EVERYTHING - especially when you are QRP !

ROTOR problems almost did me in before the contest even started. The 2L40 was
parked on LP and would not turn clockwise until I got a little help from the
wind Saturday. In the meantime, a pair of 80M dipoles at 130 ft (EU/PAC) and
90 ft (JA/SA), both fed with ladderline, served me quite well. Thanks to K4XDX
(ex KP4BZ) for climbing up and tightening the 20M rotor plate. An ohmmeter
served as the 20M indicator when one side of the indicator pot went open.
Thanks to N4NO for moving the TH6 from SA to VK when it's reconditioned HAM-M
terminal strip disintegrated after 25 years of service. Also, thanks for
moving the 5L10 / 4L15 mast to allow rotation to ZL / VK / JA / EU after
several teeth broke around 15 degrees.

Having read about a couple of heart attacks after major DX contests in the past
and having experienced atrial fibrilation following a contest, I doubled up on
my Beta Blocker dosage and took a few naps for good measure.

Severe thunderstorms with heavy lightning and a tornado scare forced a three
hour shutdown Saturday afternoon. Sunday was incredibly good with 2 hours over
60 and 2 hours over 40, all S&P.
