Congrats to W4AN/W8JI, K9DX and K9AY/W4WA!
Biggest thrill was working K6SE at 2310z the first night, at least
90 minutes before Earl's sunset! Other highlights: KL7Y calling in
at 0930z Sunday to give us WAS for the contest, breaking the pileup at 1130z
Sunday to work VK6HD. RN6BN had the loudest signal from Europe, followed by
GM3POI.
There only were 17 Europeans in the log; 11 the first night and 6 the second.
Conditions were very quiet both nights.
Missed SF, MB, NWT and VI sections. Had a VE4 come right next to our frequency
to work a W5 but couldn't get his attention. Never heard the others.
Worked 111 in the first hour, but that was the only one of 100+.
The gear: FT1000MP main xcvr, TS940S spotting RX, MFJ1025 phasing box,
Heil Proset headphones, 4-1000 amplifier 1.5 KW, 100-ft vertical with
wire parasitic elements for NE/SW 3-el array, 10 single-wire Beverages.
