Comments:
Still rebuilding the antennas after the big fire in 2000. The 80 ft vert we
used consisted of 4 tower sections, a 10' piece of aluminum tubing, the boom
off of an old Mosley, and half the reflector off an old 20 meter beam. All
pounded together with a sledgehammer, and secured with pop rivets. The gang
said it was cold forged. A few more whacks and it would turn into a Samarai
Sword. I put it up with a tractor, and held it up with nylon rope. UUUUgly.
The radials consist of 96 quarterwaves on 80. The L network sits in a plastic
pickup tool box at the base. It seemed to work OK. Murphy didn't show up
until Sunday sunrise, when the Titan tossed a relay. No Europe, No VK/ZL,
one JA. Weird year. Oh Well, CU in the CQWW160. Jay W7CW in WY
