Comments:
As an ex-New Englander, having lived in Rhode Island from
1943 - 1973, I couldn't resist entering this contest.
It brought back a lot of memories for me, because back
in the mid-1960's K1LPL and I would work portable in the
Mass, Conn, and RI QSO parties from many of the same
counties the portables were in this time. Back in those
days, we piled my DX-100, Frank's HQ-170, and a gasoline
generator into a little car and ran around stringing dipoles
in trees. Times have certainly changed! We certainly have a
TON of indelible memories from those expeditions.
Five minutes before the contest started, the Cable TV guys
showed up at my front door to repair a problem that I had reported
four weeks ago! I had to stay with them, on and off, for two hours,
while they ran around taking measurements. I didn't think 1500W of
RF would be good for their little meters. They never did solve the
problem.
Worked the following mobiles:
N1SR 14 qso's, 13 counties
K1KI 8 qso's, 7 counties
W3SM 5 qso's, 3 counties
K1MBO 4 qso's, 4 counties
K1DG 4 qso's, 2 counties
K1JB 3 qso's, 2 counties
WA1KQH 2 QSO's, 2 counties
Missed:
Lamoille, VT
Somerset, ME
Sullivan, NH
Waldo, ME
Thanks to the sponsors for all the hard work organizing this
contest, and to all the participants, especially the mobiles.
I'm looking forward to next year.
