Comments:
Memories of years past at the bottom of the cycle, digging out
just one or two JAs during the whole weekend. This year listened
for 15 to peak to JA (about 10-11pm local time... 05-06Z..) and then
trying to get the loudest JAs to QSY to try 10. Some moved right away,
while other kept saying "no propagation sri.... or single 15 only"....
but after making one QSO, and telling them it WAS open, the others did move
and try, with about a 50% success rate. Biggest signals by far JH4UYB and
JE4VVM, both nites. Other big guys were workable, but anyone under s9 on 15 just
didnt seem to have enough oomph for the 10m path when tried.
Did also work 579 VR2BG on second nite and ragchewed a bit with Brett. Heard but
could not work EI2EIC who must have had his beam some other direction. He was
solid 559 for over 30 minutes. No idea if there were other peak times during the
weekend....just tried around 10 to 11 because it was convenient, and had worked
in past years. Remember doing SOSB10 vs K7RA(SK) for many years and the
excitement of finally getting ONE JA in the log. Conrats to W4ZV on his LONG
PATH JA QSOS!!! wow..!!
73 de Danny K7SS. (ps Always fun having my birthday on AA weekend and sending
two different ages ... decided to just send ONE this year...sigs pretty
weak...and no need for more confusion)
