Comments:
An hour to an hour and a half into the contest, I was on the highway driving my
family towards home. We were all oohing and aahing at the bright Northern Lights
display, visible even over the approaching city lights. There were auroral
streamers and curtains all around us, including low in the southern sky, so the
lousy radio conditions once I finally got on the air were no surprise.
