Stealth antenna sprint operation.
FT1000MP, Amp Supply LA1000 (400w), 20/40m fold over vertical which hides in the
gutter by day w/ 60 radials hidden on the roof.
It was fun to get on from home for this one, without any stress of trying to
make the top 10. I live in a CC&R neigborhood and the committee would have a
cow if they ever knew that I had a full sized 40m vertical (with 20m trap) which
I can raise up at night. I have 60 bare copper radials which have turned brown
in the weather and match the shingles exactly. The setup is completely
invisible by day.
The first hour was very frustrating. I got beat many more times than I got
through, and Europe was louder than the stateside guys. Once Europe faded it
got much easier. There were a few guys calling me who I had no chance at
copying through the EU QRM. Too low of a takeoff angle I guess.
I got to 40 late (0300z) and had a decent hour there but the activity seemed
poor. I spent most of the time CQing on 20 where I worked the majority of my
mults.
Lots of FCG activity and FL seemed well represented as a result. Cool!

The J6 was a nice one who called me late on 20. He asked me "Do you mind having
a caller?" Of course not! It was a great burst of adreneline when he signed
J6USA and gave me #1. I worked 3 guys in RI as well. I heard but missed NM,
and AL. Got beat to both multiple times. Worked KS which is always a good one
to work regardless of the contest.
Had a real enjoyable time since there was no pressure at all. It allowed me to
be real nice to the boys who called in on 20 with their #1's, and hopefully they
went on to work a few more as a result.
Gonna try to get something up for 80 here. Wonder if the no-antenna housing
cops would notice a 67ft vertical?
