Got out of the house this year and set up on the DuPage/Kane county line at
Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. The county line ran through the picnic
table I used and continues south through the main control room and a portion of
the primary accelerator ring. If you have any interest in high-energy physics,
this site is definitely worth a visit! Noise level was much lower than my
Chicago QTH despite all the protons whizzing around. Concentrated on S&P but had
a some runs as well. Few QSOs with the southern Illinois counties, but otherwise
I was quite happy. Thanks to Dave of the Fermilab ARC for arranging site access
for the day.
