Just like a DX-pedition! At my summer QTH in Maine with the IC-706 MkIIG. This
time I added a Super-SCAF audio filter to handle the blowby in the rcvr i.f. and
tried to use a Hercules II amp with a HUGE Die Hard battery that wasn't fully
charged at the onset. I used the amp sparingly when conditions wouldn't produce
any Q's without it; 300 watts max! That's a long way from 1500...
The antenna on 20 thru 10 is an old TB6-EM, up 55 feet, and a G5RV for 40 and
80. Not a contest station by any means, but it served me well. I have to refine
the amp power supply situation, but for now, the battery will do :~).
What a surprise Sunday afternoon when I was called by 3A2MD...haven't worked
Monaco in 30 years!
