Comments:
I normally do not operate from home anymore, having become a closet VHF/SHF
rover. I threw up a driven element from an old TA-33 at 30' and 2 phased
verticals each for 40 and 80. Fortunately, the old radial field with 38,000 ft
of copper wire in the woods helped. Score was down 5% from last year, with
strange conditions on 80 meters. Good signals all night, but early good results
turned into frustrations as no one out west could hear me. I pulled my usual
stupid stunt, racing up into the woods at 3 am with a flashlight in my teeth to
hook up the 160 meter loading coil.
Sure is fun to operate all weekend without having to touch a rotator control!
Another great organizational effort by the W6 guys to get high activity from all
counties. Special thanks to W6OAT and of course the K6AQL gang for all the
contacts.
Looks like the Ontario crew may beat the Tennessee Contest Group for a winning
club effort. Congrats to all!
