Comments:
This was a very fun and strange event.
First off, I put up a loop (about 500' total) up about 40' or so to give me
something to use on 40 and 80 meters, in hindsight this was a very smart thing
to do! :-)
I was asked by just about everyone what my antenna was and how come I was so
loud, I know loops have a certain MoJo to them, but it was just the band
conditions. I was running my Kenwood TS-570 at 5W to the loop, and a Inverted-L
@ 30' that is broadside E/W. This gave me a great signal into the local
tri-state area and accounts for my good run on 40.
Saturday:
10 was totaly dead, nill, nadda, zilch!
15 was slightly better.
20 was good to W6/W7.
40 was my bread-n-butter band!
80 was a major surprise!
Sunday:
See above. hihi!
I missed the usual suspects, AK, NWT, ND, but I also missed OK, WY, ID, QC, and
MB. Never heard most of these, did hear an AK and OK but I was to weak for them
to hear me.
73 and see you all next year!
Dan, N8IE
