Comments:
It was my pleasure to operate from the NK7U station. Joe has more hardware in
the air than I have seen since I left the east. It was fun to break a few
pileups for a change. Joe and Sharon were called away to PA on Thursday and left
me in charge of the house and shack.
The station was set up for SSB M/2 operation, so I took everything apart when I
arrived. I brought some Top Ten boxes and set up for SO2R. There was very
little interstation interference. Joe has filters on the radios and high power
low pass filters on the amps along with stubs. The SO2R set up was perfectly
symmetrical with radios and amps, so the run and mult radios were
interchangable.
It sounds like a different contest when I read the notes from stations further
south. I experienced some firsts here in the 10 years that I have been
contesting from the PNW.
1. I could not run JAs when the contest started.
2. I could not run JAs on 10 meters at any time.
3. I worked more Eu than Asia. 742/543
4. My 3 hours (only) over 100 per were Eu runs.
Many thanks to Joe and Sharon for allowing me to use their fine house and
station.
