XMIT Antennas: Vertical Dipole, Inverted V
RX Antennas: 750 ft beverage to NE, 450 ft beverage to NW
Planned Multi-op effort with P43P unfortunately was cancelled at the last
minute. Another time.
Condx seemed effected by an elevated level of absorption. Noted there were
spikes in the A/K numbers during the contest period. Missed EU sunrise first
night (fell asleep, exhaused from many hours scrapping/painting towers).
New vertical dipole antenna (50 foot mounted vertically) performed much better
than expected and will be the antenna of choice (over an inverted V at 70 feet
that has been used for many years) in future P40W operations. A description of
this antenna - as written by K2KQ - can be found at
http://www.yccc.org/Articles/double_l.htm . It is very simple to install and
tune - and the very best part, no massive ground system required.
Thanks to everyone who called and then kept calling when the QSB/QRN made the
going rough.
73, John W2GD/P40W
