Comments:

At the last minute I decided to try the Assisted class. I was going to have to
leave for a business trip early Sunday afternoon, and I planned on getting ample
rest throughout, so I figured why not try something new.

I've never used packet outside of multi-ops, so I had nothing set up to bring
packet into my logging program so I used telnet (tnx K4JA!) on my laptop sitting
next to the radio on the desk. As I didn't have "Alt-F3" or whatever to throw
stuff into the cluster, I had to do it the "old fashioned" way - typing dx
<call> <qrg> etc. This of course takes time, especially since I had to reach
over to the laptop, so in the end I didn't contribute much to the spotting
effort but thanks to all of you who kept things scrolling up the screen!

It was fun participating in the regular "gatherings" with many of the same
stations each time various spots came up.

Low bands were very FB! Probably should have tried CQing a bit there but I was
having fun playing DXer. Even diverted a few times down the the low end of the
bands to catch some of the non-contest DX that came up on the screen. Hearing
9V1GO on 160 Sunday morning was pretty cool. Worked an S9 JA there....neat
stuff! Then it was back to trying to carve out a hole on 15M or 20M.

Thanks to John and Jean for letting me invade their house once again!

73, Mike K9NW
