Comments:
I started 5 hours late. I first contacted K8AQM on 20m SSB, and when he wasn't
getting replies to his CQs, I asked him if we could try 15m. We did, and he was
booming. After contacting two other loud MI stations on 15m, but not finding
any others, I decided to try calling "CQ Michigan QSO Party and CQ Ontario QSO
Party" to see if I could catch the attention of any more stations on 15m. After
30 minutes, no Michigan stations had called, and only one VE3 called, but I had
a full log of other stations around the U.S. who couldn't resist calling! Guys
were calling running 5W and screwdriver antennas. EA5DFV even called at 21:12Z,
running 100W. Later I asked W8MJ to move to 15m, where he was 59+30dB!
There was a good amount of activity by MI stations on 20m and 40m. It seemed
like they had a hard time hearing on 80m. I could hear the MI guys fine, but
most either called CQ in my face or sent "?" several times before they got my
call and exchange. Maybe thunderstorm QRN?
Thanks for all the CQP QSOs last year, and hope to see all of you in this year's
California QSO Party on October 2-3!
