Comments:
Conditions this year proved to be better than last year (remember the record
solar flare just prior to the start of CQ WW SSB 2003 that caused a radio
blackout during the contest?). That said, the A and K index were both very low
all week, until Friday at 22:00 UTC...amazing how often that seems to happen.
Very noisy low bands the first night, coupled with a climbing K index dashed
hopes of great EU runs on 40m and 80m. But, things did improve Saturday night
making the low bands more tolerable, and workable.
It was nice to see 10m open during the day into most parts of the world. The
only EU worked, however, was Sunday morning with the beams pointed to South
America; we never did get a direct path opening. ON4UN had the strongest signal
at S9.
As always, great participation from all the expeditions. You guys were loud
everywhere. Thanks to all for the q's!
