As a CW and RTTY op I never knew that SSB was so much fun :-) Variable band
conditions but overall some of the best band conditions and rates that I have
experienced from 9M2.
I returned from a business trip early Friday morning and spent Friday afternoon
improving the 40m antenna and installing an 80m antenna. I am now happy with 40m
but the 80m performance is still weak.
Annoyances:
1. Stations answering my CQs with only two letters of their callsigns (and not
always the last two!).
2. 40m SSB. I was asked many times when will I be on 40m. During 40m S&P a few
stations told me that I had a good signal into Eu there just wasn't space for a
run frequency. I will strech band plans during contests but I feel that
operating below 7020 is just too much. What to do?
3. My callsign! Yes, it's a long callsign but surely after working a station
once the second/third time should be easier?
4. 20m solar noise made the band unusable for most of Sunday night (my time)
whilst the band was open to Eu. This lost a lot of Qs.
Given the high K numbers I was surprised by some excellent over the pole
openings to Eastern NA. The Carribean stations were amazingly loud here and easy
to work despite their Eu pileups.
Thank you for all the QSOs.
