Comments:

It was a good year for the VP5X team! CT1ILT of the World Wide Young Contesters
group joined us as the sponsored young ham and was a huge asset to our team.

We faced many challenges this year, including antenna problems with the 40 meter
yagi, staying contected to the Internet and as always, bringing in new
operators.

Thanks goes to WA4PGM for returning again this year and helping the newcomers
adjust quickly. A huge thanks goes to Keith, K0RAY, for his countless hours in
the hot sun repairing the 40 meter yeagi, which got us through 40 of the 48
hours of thge contest.

A special thanks goes to Kelly, N0VD, for setting up the wireless network AND
for workging the night shifts through the contest.

Filipe scored the highest overall run rate at 265. Congratulations to Filipe,
winner of the Young Ham Contest Program and a free trip to VP5. Filipe is an
excellent contest operator, a team player and now a good friend. We were honored
to have him on the team!

As usual, we experiened a difficult time working Asia on 10 and 15 meters.
Having some monoband yagis would certainly be an asset.

Unfortunately, it does not appear that we will be able to operate from VP5 next
year so we are considering alternatives such as Greenland or Africa.

We hope to receive many more essays next year, especialy from the WWYC.

Thanks to all the fine young hams around the world for sending thier essays. We
wish we could have taken all of you.

73,

David ~ KY1V
