Congratulations to K9DX on a fantastic score!
Started 90 minutes late but by end of first night we were a few QSOs ahead of
last year's pace. But DX QSOs are fewer this year -- 90 vs. 185 last year -- so
the score is down though we had more QSOs overall in the end.
Nice to have three JAs call in just after sunrise on Saturday -- a fourth faded
into the noise before we could get his full call.
Had high hopes the second night when GJ3YHU called in with a loud signal almost
an hour before sundown, and worked another half dozen or so loud Eu before
sunset. But later most Europeans were weak, and only a handful worked around
their sunrise. No European runs either night -- they just kind of dribbled in.
Worked two very weak VK3s Sunday morning 1130-12z and heard JA7NI CQing right
underneath me around same time but couldn't get his attention.
Fairly good and quiet conditions to the west both nights, though many signals
very weak.
Needed only WY, NWT and KL7 for the sweep. Never heard a Wyoming, and heard
several stations working a KL7 -- I think it was NL7Z -- the first night but
couldn't copy him. Heard a W6 calling VY1JA the second night right next to me
but never heard Jay. EB was last section worked -- came late the second night
but then in next hour or so must have worked a dozen of them, maybe spotlight
propgagation!
CU all in CQ 160 contest in January.
