I have been sick for the last two weeks with mild flu symptoms,
so the smart thing to do this weekend would have been to
stay home, relax, and recuperate fully. Therefore, I decided
at the last minute to load all of my equipment into my pickup
truck and drive to the El Mirage Off-Highway Vehicle Range
just west of Victorville, California to mount a portable operation
in the Stew Perry Topband Distance Challenge. You can draw
your own conclusions about my sanity based on that decision
making process :)
Despite problems with generator ignition noise, a dead
battery in the middle of the night, a flat tire, and having my
truck stuck in 4 wheel drive for about 10 miles on the way
home after I left the dirt road, I had a great time!!
