The weather, forced me to completly change my strategy: with non-stop rain on
saturday, followed by snow on sunday, no way I could follow my initial plans
based on low-bands (was planning for some 400Q's both on 40 and 80 with 2 hours
short night rests).
With 100% humidity, the 380kV power-line passing a few hundred meters from my
antennas becomes a tremendous white-noise generator below 10Mhz. So I went to
bed, and missed the 80m-W window both days. Fortunately snow finaly stopped for
a couple of hours on sunday evening, allowing me to grab a few 6pts Q's (40m
great to JA on sunday evening).
With such a RX handicap, entering LP was almost a "non-choice", and by chance
the unexpected great conditions on high bands served this option.
Was wondering what difference, 5dB could make... In one hand, a lot! Had
forgotten how much frustrating it can be to get his frequency stollen, by
someone who pretends that he does not hear you! On the other hand, not that much
as I could still work almost everybody I could print.
Anyway it has been a great weekend... could be a new EU-record, but suspect a
few others to be "on"... so wait and see...
Thanks everybody for the Q's and see you in BARTG spring... Now time for as bit
of CW...
Patrick
