Comments:
As the contest started I was having dinner in the revolving restaurant on the
14th floor of the Crowne Plaza in Port of Spain, Trinidad. I remember thinking
how cool it would be to have a station up there....if one could figure out how
to keep all the cables intact. After spending all day Saturday in planes, and
getting home at 11PM, I was ready to blow off the whole event. But it's a DX
contest, one that just happens to coincide with the anniversary of getting my
first license (March 6) so QSOs had to be made. I would hate to totally miss
the event.
Severe lack of condx Sunday morning but it was fun tuning around for a few
hours, chasing spots and such. The obvious question, of course, is why not stay
and operate from the DX location? Unfortunately, I didn't have enough lead time
on the trip to try and line up a DX location in or around 9Y4. Next time,
perhaps.
