Had wanted to make a good go at ARRL since my next contest probably won't be
until IARU. Saturday was fun. Although not the first time I've used my IC765 in
a contest, it's the first time I've put it through it's paces on a busy band and
have to say it's a joy to use compared with some other radios. The amp
(Tremendus 2) gave no problems, but I certainly noted this year that my Mosley
TA53M just doesn't cut the mustard. My spanish competitor Max EA1DDO beat me
hands down I guess, even EA5DFV who was operating SOAB got more Qs than me on
15! Max uses a 4 ele quad and Jose Miguel a 6 ele yagi, so I guess I know where
I need to be improving. Are we still having fun? YOU BET!
