My first effort from Fort Ashby, West Virginia, my retirement QTH.
Rig: TS-830S; no amplifier; no tuner. Ant: 40m Inv Vee & 20m Inv Vee, both
up 33 ft. New 80m Vertical failed due to high VSWR. A homebrew resonant tuner
to match the very low 8 ohm rad. resistance has fixed this VSWR problem at base
of 33-ft aluminum mast with capacity hat.
Bands were unusable most of the weekend, but 40m was OK on Saturday night & 20m
improved in the late hours of the contest on Sunday.
Submitted score by snail mail due to loss of floppy drive in my contesting PC
(an old DOS machine). It goes out to Germany tomorrow, 5 Sept.
