Thanks to K7ZSD (Brad and Ruth) for the quick fix,
and SALMON DINNER fresh from KL7! They sure have a
peaceful setting on the mountain top above the
Columbia River; a wonderful place to heal and recharge!
THE CONTEST:
1st HR: Felt nearly 100% considering 100w. Was holding pretty strong.
Worked a few off the top on 40.
2nd HR: 130 Q's. Felt a big slip in my score, and in retrospect
most of the boys ahead were HP, but had no idea and it pushed me.
Pretty even split 20/40 Q's.
3rd HR: 200 Q's. Keeping the LP pace, 20 is still producing nearly
50/50 with 40
4th HR: 0315 Work a few 80, but focus on 40 picking away at 80
off the top.
20 was open til 0400, and produced late for me, however the rate was slow. I
had to try 40, so a toss up on which was best. Still had S9 W1's and 4's coming
through.
40 was completely flat until the first 0050 where I worked 2 W0's then
at 0100 then it popped with K9PG and the rest coming through.
80 was like hitting a wall. The entire time on 80 I felt QRPp.
Couldn't break the W6 runs, but could work 8's & 9's. Local QRM
for them I'm sure.
