What a contest!

My problems just did not stop for the whole trip. First of all, Hurricane Wilma
caused chaos with my flights and luggage. Flying north to get south just did
not make any sense to me. After spending an unexpected night in KP4, it was nice
to see the "Welcome to PJ7/FS" sign at the airport even if it was just two days
before the test.

I was on the qir within three hours of lqnding. The Butternut vertical went
together smooth and I tested it out with just 8 radials. It always amzes me thqt
the swr on all bands is less than 1.8. I realized that the 756PRO had problems
though. Talking with John, P40W, on the air tried to help but to no avail. I did
hqve both q 706 and an Elecraft K2. I planned on using the Elecraft for the test
anyway. I brought the PRO to do RTTY for before and after the test but it just
wasnt meant to be I guess.

Then two hours before the test I was on 15 and noticed that I could only get
about 400 watts out of the amp. I spent the next hour trying to figure it out
but no resolve. I contacted a ham over on the Dutch side qnd gave him the anp to
fix and told him to bring it back during the contest but I still havent seen the
amp. I will go see him today to see if it is repaired. I was forced to go Low
Power but I knew I still would do well with my Elecraft and Butternut.

My Receiving Loop on 160 and 80 seemed as if I was on 20 Meters, I could hear
everything, ALMOST.

Thanks for all the qsos and understanding when I would call and call and call.
Please look for me in March as I will be qrv for the ARRL test using my call
down there 8R1EA.
