Comments:
A fun contest, but conditions were quite different from past years. Even in the
south, it was possible to HEAR but not work DX stations during the daylight all
day. Asia was still workable after 9 AM local time and I even worked a couple of
EU stations around 2 PM on Sunday. 3B8 was roaring in around 3 PM local.
It was very frustrating to hear the stations up north, KC1XX, K3LR, W3LPL and
others closer to the darkness, running at 1800-1900Z while I was having to S/P
with little success except for a ? when I sent my call. However, I think it all
evens out, since I think there is pretty much a finite number of guys in the
contest and as long as you are CQing they will eventually find you when there is
prop in your direction.
Enormous JA run (at least for the East Coast) on Sunday morning as well as very
strong EU on the long path on both mornings.
Thanks to all who put up with my crappy CW. I only do CW a couple of times a
year...just in contests. I had some line noise, so I was a little deaf in
hearing the ESP level stations...sorry.
Amazing how many S-9 EU stations would ask "QRL", get an answer that they
frequency was occupied, and then would blissfully begin to CQ. Why ask, if you
will ignore the answer? CW was heard all the way up to 7099 on Sunday
afternoon.
Biggest thrill....after trying to work VU2PAI for about 20 minutes Sunday
afternoon and have him leave the frequency, HE called me with about 20 minutes
left in the contest!
Thanbks to all for all the QSOs. I'll be back.
