Comments:

Rig : Elecraft K2/100 #3311 & KAT100

Antennas : Base loaded 1/4 wave 80M vertical; Rx phased 80M verticals

Soapbox : I was sleep deprived heading into the contest, having arrived
on an early morning flight back to Tennesse. The antenna required matching, so
this was top priority. It wouldn't cooperate with my efforts. Finally got it to
work with a coil laying in a cinder block and jury rigged connection to the
feedline. I had enough time left for a shower before the test started. I had
also run a couple lines as snake beverages, but they were deaf. Thought I'd try
the 80M phased T's, turned out to be the way to go.

Wow! Excellent conditions Friday night/ Saturday morn, it was fast and furious
with many excellent listeners. Worked all but five sections and all states
except Hawaii. I had set a goal of 350 QSOs, almost doubled that amount, much to
my delight. It was a good thing as well.

I had hoped to work 350 Qs Saturday night. It started slow and then noise rolled
in advance of a storm front. The QRN got nasty, making it hard to hear (sorry to
those W2's and others I missed). Figured I'd catch a few winks, when the thunder
woke me. I had to run over to the shack to disconnect the antennas, managed to
do it before all hell broke loose. Went back on the air after it passed and
managed to push my count up over 800 and pick up KH6ZM for WAS! Thanks NL7Z for
the tough Alaska QSO from this section of the states! Good to hear multiple
Dakota stations, in fact most states were VERY well represented.

It was a great time! Thanks to EVERYONE for the fun!!!

Hope to work everyone in the Stew Perry, plan to go QRP...
73,
Julius
