Comments:

Thanks for all the QSOs. Bands made it rough. Forty and 80 meters were not in
good condition as the signals were weaker than normal. The best European
opening on 80 meters was at their sunrise, which is to be expected. However,
this brought their signals up to the level they have been during earlier hours
of the evening in previous contests. Could not pull a number of European
stations out of the noise even with the Northeast Beverage. Sorry.

Also, did not hear any JA or other Far East stations on 40 or 20 meters. I
could hear the West Coast and Midwest USA stations working them. The 20 meters
antenna for the second radio is fixed in an unfavorable direction for JA, etc.,
which was all that was available when the JAs, etc. were reported on the
DXCluster as being worked by others in USA. Oh well, another project for
another day, along with building another amp. for the second radio, etc.

The growing popularity of RTTY contesting was evident towards the end of the
Contest by lookng at the QSO numbers being sent out by a number of stations.
Several were over 1000 in the USA. This is a new level for QSO count
considering 10 meters was useless, 15 was limited to a couple of hours of decent
propagation and 20 meters had limited propagation starting at approx. 1700Z from
the East Coast USA. The QSO numbers would have been over 1500 instead of over
1000 had the same level of activity been around at the turn of the century (aka
max. sun spot activity). Only five more years! (Maybe half my projects will be
done by then!)
