Comments:
As everyone has noted, condx were not the greatest...A index sat at 50 all
weekend. 40m was the money band but there was some great activity and signals
on 80m right thru the S9 noise....I took a short break at 0045 and went down
to 160m to see if I could hear S01R and started to immediately go back to MIQP
when on 1.822 SO1R was 599!! Didn't really need it as had EA9CR/EA9 on SSB
on 160 from years ago....worked him one first call....nice surprise..
Back to business......My buddy Jim, K8MR - you are really great....Tops for me
with 19 Q's and with the blink of his eye we went back and forth from cw to
ssb to get that county out of the way in about 10 seconds...tks again Jim.
Also, to other great mobile operators....WT9U 14, W1NN 13, AF8A 11, NU8Z 10,
WN9O 8, W8UE 7, K8IR 7, AD8J 5, N8CBW and KF8F with 2 each. Would have had
another Q with KF8F but he QSB'd down and never came back....always figure that
was probably a new county too...
Was amazed at how strong most of the mobiles were on 80m. I can never seem to
get out very well on that band when I got mobile.....many were as strong as
most of the fixed stations.
Worked a total of 71 of the 83 counties....was surprised at how many SSB statins
why I asked if they operated CW said YES! Charlie Whiskey ain't dead
yet - YEA!!
Thanks to the contest committee as there was ample activity and the 12 hours was
just the right amount of time....
73, Paul, N4PN
