Comments:

Wow was this fun! Especially compared to last year where I got hit by lightning
within the first 15 minutes of the contest. This year had 2 spare radios,
spare antennas and of course had no problems. Ran an IC-746PRO and a homemade
DC grounded W9UCW type mobile antenna with all bands from 80 thru 10m including
30m. I tried 15 and 10m but never heard a peep and 80m was good for contacts but
there weren't many folk there. Antenna tuneup takes a long time but the results
are instant QSY, low SWR, and hopefully a good signal. Total antenna weight is
about 11 pounds and height was 12'7". My wife was my driver and did a great
job. We saw a lot of the country where nearly no one lives including the
geographical center of the continental US and the worlds largest ball of twine.
Very low noise except for 2 hours Sunday when some storms were in the area.
Most often worked fixed station was K8MFO and most often worked mobile was
W9MSE/M. It sure was nice to have all the activity from the other QSO parties
and was nice to work so many familiar calls.
