Comments:
This was my best showing to date, even with nothing on 10m and not much on 15m.
Saturday: As the contest got started there wasnâ??t much going on 15m so I
tried 20m and found that 1A4A was working RTTY and had a pileup spread across a
huge chunk of the band. After several guys started calling him on various
frequencies I tried to use I gave up and moved to 15m. By the time I came back
to 20m the mayhem seemed to be gone. When evening came around I was surprised
that I could hear so few European stations on 40m, I had better luck on 80m
later on. I went to bed at midnight after eleven hours with 600 QSOs in the
log: 43 states, 8 provinces, but only 25 DXCC multipliers (no F or DL!).
Sunday: As usual I slept later than I should have and when I got started at 8AM
there were plenty of Europeans on 20m and a few on 15m. All through the contest
I had a nagging feeling that I should have more multipliers logged but I see
from other logs that I did not do too badly in this regard.
Near the end of the contest I got a nice present - calls from two needed
states; Vermont and Maine one after the other. Another nice surprise was
getting a call from ZL2AMI on 15m as my seventh QSO.
