Comments:
I passed the first 7 hours of contest (sleep-time after hard working week, HI).
Poor conditions on first day on 21/28 MHz. I "pushed" mainly on 14, but it
wasn't to successful.... I try compensate later on 40 m. I copied good sigs
simultaneously from far east and USA (few takers)!
I observed same on 80 m.
Running any ten minutes CQ..., searching for multipliers.... all day round.
I heard on second day some "big gun" stations on 10, but my 500W and 4 ele.
ant. was insufficient to "harvest" more points and multipliers. I worked only
one "short skip DX" stn..... No more DXs....
The evening-surprice was the local (EU) pile-up on 80 m. Good sigs, without
extra high (as usual) level of noise. About 20 GMT on 3.599,5 called me VK6HD
with big, real S8-S9 signals!!! Gotcha! I was overjoyed indeed.
(To get it with simple, without radials mounted Telex Hy-Gain 18HTS vertical
and without receiver antenna system! The power output from my L4B is 6-700W.)
I found a little better conditions on 40 m too. Strong signals from Japan and
USA, but very high level of QRN. One large front run overall Europe from west
to east with strong thunderstorms. This produced on my QTH 55-70 mil. wind and
electrostatic noise. I went into QRT before end of contest....
It's remains more than 300 unsent QTCs... sorry.
